Q: How do I increase the height of the water coming from the Parascope?

The flow of the Parascope is dependent on pressure to extend it. You will have to either open the valve to that Parascope more or reduce the water flow to some other item on the pool to get more flow / pressure.

Q: Can the main drain be tied to the Paraskim Venturi skimmer?

No , because to tie the main drain into one socket, and pump suction into the other socket of ParaSkim skimmer, you must use an optional Pentair float valve part 08650-0079. That float valve covers up the bottom opening for the venturi feed line making the venturi part of the skimmer inoperable. However, the non-Venturi version of the ParaSkim can be plumbed that way. Paramount does not recommend this type of a main drain set up with any in-floor system. This is because in-floor cleaning systems are designed to pull in large amounts of debris from our special debris accepting drains and that debris would get caught in the limited space between the Float assembly and the skimmer bottom.

Q: Where can I buy other Parajets face plates?

You can get these through your builder, a pool store or the internet. The part numbers are Shiatsu 004-852-4100-XX, Pulsating Massage Jet 004-852-5100-XX and the Soft Stream 004-852-6100-XX. The XX stands for color. The Face plate removal tool is 004-852-0000-00

Q: Why are the Parajets not spinning?

Only the Shiatsu, Pulsating, and Soft stream are rotating jets. The deep tissue jet is not designed to rotate. Remove the face plate and make sure you can spin it from the back side. It may be worn out or have debris in it. Clean if necessary with a hose and pressure nozzle. Turn on the therapy jet pump with the face plate out and make sure the therapy nozzle is working good and has not been blocked by debris. If it is blocked use a socket and long extension to remove the jet and blow out the line and clean the jet opening. If after cleaning the jet and clearing the line it still doesn’t spin replace

Q: Can I install an Ultra UV2 or Clear O3 on an above ground pool or a pool with the equipment below the water level?

Yes, but if the above ground pool water is higher than the equipment a flow switch part number 004-421-3824-00 must be used for the Ultra UV2 unit and an inline pressure side Mazzei injector part number 004-402-3873-00 would be needed for the ClearO3. The pump and filter on an above ground vinyl pool may have to be replaced to do an adequate job for water turn over.

Q: When do I need to replace the water valve module?

Normal life span of a module is an average 5 to 8 years. This is an average depending on conditions you may need to replace it sooner or later than that. If the system is working fine you don’t need to replace the module.

Q: One or multiple cleaning nozzles stay up all the time, how do I fix that?

Turn off the pump and if the nozzle(s) goes down then the module needs to be cleaned or replaced. If it does not go down then the nozzle/s needs need to be removed on that circuit, cleaned, checked for nozzle jet sizing and the line blown out.

Q: Why is the water valve not changing zones?

Check the run pause switch on the top of the water valve lid and make sure it is in the Run position. (picture) Make sure the gauge pressure is in the 17 to 25 psi range.When in this range the valve should switch about every 45 to 60 seconds. Try cleaning the Module and make sure the gears will rotate when you spin the one closest to the center pin. Normal life span of a module is an average 5 to 8 years. If the gauge pressure is way higher than normal on the water valve especially on one port, then a nozzle or nozzles may be blocked with debris. To test this, remove the module (Six port modules only) On a single water valve if the water valve stops on one port or circuit shut off the pump and open the water valve. Remove the module and rinse it in the pool or with a hose and reinstall it one position clockwise and close the water valve and restart the pump. If it goes back to the same set of nozzles and stops again then that is a sign that the circuit has a blocked or improperly sized nozzle(s) and that the water valve module is not the problem. Remove the nozzle(s) on that circuit (keeping in mind that each nozzle must go back in the exact same body from where it was removed. Check the nozzles for debris or jet size.

Q: Why does the water valve make a swishing sound when changing ports?

When the water valve is changing ports two pistons are open at the same time which changes the water flow to almost double the GPM. That will make a louder sound during that time. When the lagging port closes you may hear a swoosh sound or whistle as it shuts tight.

Q: Does my water valve(s) need to be serviced?

On pools with cartridge filters or pools with a booster pump running the cleaning system you may need to clean the module in the water valve periodically. To do this turn off the pool pumps. Remove the clamp and lid of the water valve and then remove the module in the valve base. Note; on a system with more than one water valve one of the modules will be special and have a bridge(s) onthe top of the module, this must be replaced in the same base in the same exact orientation. Put the module in the pool water sideways and swish it back and forth fast about 5 times. Turn it upside down and push (never rotate) the any protruding pistons back against the bottom plate. Spin the gear closest to the center pin on the top of the module to confirm rotation and gear mesh. Replace the module into the base. Clean the O-ring and lid and replace it and the clamp. Note: While tightening the nut on the band clamp you must tap on the clamp as you tighten the nut starting on the opposite side from the nut. This will allow the clamp to draw up evenly. Sometimes the O-ring will swell larger than the groove and will not fit. You must replace a swollen O-ring.
